BACKGROUND:
I am from England and grew up just outside of London in a town called Loughton. I qualified as a teacher in 2019 and have worked in a variety of different schools since including mainstream, SEN and SEMH schools. I moved to Thailand this August after teaching in the Caribbean last year. I have already fallen in love with the city and can’t wait to explore the rest of Thailand.
STRENGHTS:
Working in a variety of different schools has given me a wide tool kit to help support children from all walks of life. In my classroom there is no such word as ‘can’t’ we may all have different roads, but we all get to where we need to go. I pride myself on having a firm but fair approach in my classroom, allowing everyone to feel comfortable, safe and able to succeed.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
I love the ‘light bulb’ moments in teaching. When you see the children have finally got what they have been struggling with or figured out a way to solve a problem they didn’t think they could. I accidently found my passion for teaching after I work at summer camp in New York in the summer of 2016. When I returned home, I felt that I had finally found what I was meant to do. FBS is a great community, and I am so excited to start this teaching year with them! I can’t wait to see what we achieve.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
In the classroom we are all equal and everyone is entitled to a quality education. With clear expectations and boundaries everyone is able to succeed. I want the children to feel safe and embrace the classroom as a comfort zone. Getting the know the children is key and one of my top priorities. I encourage all children to always try their best and ‘give it a go’ even if they are unsure as mistakes are also learning opportunities.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Being new to FSB this year I am excited to learn new things with the children in my class. I can’t wait to see the children continue to grow academically and personally, watching their personalities develop over the year and making sure we all have a happy and healthy year! I am especially looking forward to the Thai celebrations that we will celebrate as well as celebrating all the nationalities at FSB!
