Ms. Shelley

BACKGROUND:
I was born and brought up in England but Thailand is a very special place for me and my family. My husband and I moved here in 2005 and both of our daughters were born here. When they were small, we moved back to England for a few years but returned to Bangkok in 2018. I have been a qualified teacher since 1999 and have taught in Primary schools in England and Thailand. These have ranged from a small village school in rural England to a large international school here in Bangkok and I have loved the variety of experiences this has given me.

STRENGHTS:
For most of my career I have been a full time class teacher in both KS1 and KS2, which has given me opportunities to work with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds; as well as with pupils of all abilities from gifted and talented to those with learning needs such as autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and speech and language difficulties. My experiences and teaching roles have provided me with a secure knowledge of the Primary English Curriculum.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
Working in a Primary school means every day is different and there are always new challenges and celebrations to enjoy. I love the community spirit at FSB school, working with an enthusiastic team of teachers and the opportunity to get to know children of all ages and their families from so many different cultures.

MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
I strive to instill a love of learning in the children I teach by providing lessons which are both fun and suitably challenging. It’s important to me that every child feels safe at school and I do my best to reassure them that they can always talk to me.

LOOKING AHEAD:
In my role as Head of Upper Primary, I am looking forward to helping further develop the Primary school and helping to provide support for both staff, pupils and parents. Everyone will make personal progress in the coming year and it will be wonderful to be part of that and celebrate everyone’s achievements.
