BACKGROUND:
I was born in County Mayo in the West of Ireland surrounded by scenic farmland. I moved to Thailand in 2011 and have lived here ever since. I fell in love with the scenery, culture, people and food. I have been teaching in Thailand for 12 years and in 2021, I received my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) from the University of Nottingham, UK. I began teaching at FSB in 2022 and it has been wonderful to be a part of its growth and development.
STRENGHTS:
As a teacher, I value being both patient and understanding of my students’ social, emotional and learning needs. I firmly believe that every child deserves to be appreciated and respected in the classroom with equal opportunities for learning. I also dedicate time to communicate with parents and colleagues to ensure that each individual child’s needs are supported.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
Teaching is a rewarding career, and it brings me great joy to create new learning opportunities for my students in a fun and engaging way and to witness their achievements throughout the school year as they persevere and try their best.
I love working at FSB because of its tight-knit, inclusive community where there is excellent communication between staff and families. I also enjoy being able to see my students from previous years and watch as they continue their learning journey through Primary.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
My goal is to support my students to be confident in their own ideas, foster their creativity, and nurture their curiosities while feeling safe and secure in a happy classroom environment. The children are also encouraged to work collaboratively and respectfully with one another and to always try their best. I listen and learn from my students while being flexible and compassionate in accommodating the needs of the children.
LOOKING AHEAD:
This year, I look forward to observing my students as they grow in independence while developing a wide range of skills and a passion for learning. I’m excited to develop a positive relationship with each child and a strong bond as a class family. In addition, I plan to acknowledge and celebrate the children achieving their personal bests while creating lasting memories throughout the year.
