BACKGROUND:
I am from the North of England, but grew up in Bahrain. I moved to England when I was 18 to study Primary Teaching at Leeds Metropolitan University. I graduated in 2013 with a BA Hons with QTS and taught in an inner city school in Leeds. I moved to Madrid in 2016 and taught Reception for 5 years, before moving to Thailand in 2021. I have been working at FSB for 4 years, in which time I have had leadership opportunities, working as the head of FS3 and moved back from EYFS to Primary.
STRENGHTS:
I prioritise creating a classroom where all students feel welcome, safe, and respected, ensuring that every child has equal opportunities for learning. Having worked with children from diverse cultural backgrounds and ranging age groups, I pride myself on building trusting relationships that enable students to thrive both academically and personally. I believe learning should be fun and engaging, therefore strive to create lessons that are interactive and collaborative.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
I love the diversity in every day and experiencing the personalities of each child. I value the relationships I build with each child and enjoy witnessing the effect of these connections; creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued. FSB encourages a strong sense of community, not only amongst parents and families, but staff as well and I feel supported by both my colleagues and leadership.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
My classroom ethos focuses on feeling safe. Safe to join in, safe to ask questions and safe to make mistakes. This creates a welcoming and positive atmosphere where every student feels valued and encouraged to try their best. We focus on kindness, respect, and supporting each other as a team, making our classroom a fun and inclusive place to grow.
LOOKING AHEAD:
This year, I look forward to seeing the children’s confidence and ‘can do’ attitude grow and with that, their independence. I hope that I expose them to new experiences, both exciting and challenging, and look forward to the rewarding and joyful moments that come with them. I look forward to experiencing my own challenges that enable me to continue to grow, both as a teacher and an individual.
