BACKGROUND:
I grew up in a small town called Worthing on the south coast of Sussex, very close to the beach. I then moved to Canterbury, Kent, where I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University, with a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies. I enjoyed learning about theories and practise relevant to teaching and am able to implement these in my current role.
STRENGHTS:
I enjoy creating a fun and exciting environment where children can play, explore, and, most importantly, have lots of fun! 😊
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
Working with children has a way of reminding me to appreciate the small joys in life, whether it’s a child’s first time putting their shoes on independently, or their first steps or even a simple drawing, these moments remind me that there is joy in little moments that we all take for granted and I believe it something that is important to value in my work. I like to encourage and celebrate the joy in the small things as I feel it help boost the children’s confidence, to know they are supported through everything they do, no matter how big or how small their achievement is.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
I believe in a holistic, child-led approach to education, as I see children as the future and recognize the incredible opportunity to help shape that future by working with them. One of my favorite quotes, which I keep close when teaching, is ‘the future of the world is in this room.’ This quote reminds me that the knowledge, values, and experiences we share with children, both inside and outside the classroom, play a crucial role in shaping the adults they will become
LOOKINGÂ AHEAD:
I am looking forward to another fun year full of learning and hopefully lots of smiles. I love living in Thailand, the warm weather, the nice food and the amazing culture makes for a very welcoming experience and I am looking forward to seeing what the next few years have in store for FSB!
