BACKGROUND:
I grew up in the North East of Scotland in a city called Aberdeen. After high school I moved to London where, in 2015, I graduated with a BA Hons degree in Events and Business from the University of West London. I have taught children to horse ride in the USA and then completed a TEFL certificate and began teaching in Vietnam. I then qualified with a PGDE and taught in Glasgow before moving to Bangkok in August this year.
STRENGHTS:
I believe in a nurturing learning environment and pride myself in fostering a positive, fun and challenging space where children are excited to learn and develop as individuals. I use various pedagogical approaches and I am particularly focused on using inquiry-based learning in the lower school.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
There is nothing quite like building a strong, positive relationship with children in my class and being able to see them learn and grow. I love watching the children develop into critical thinkers and overall kind, motivated young people. The whole school fosters a positive, happy environment where children feel safe, respected and challenged, which goes a long way in developing successful learners.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
It is important that all children in my class feel welcome and safe, we ask questions and link learning to the real world. In my class we will take part in practical activities that stimulate learning and create an enjoyable space for all children.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Looking ahead, I am excited to find out more about the children’s interests and use these in our learning as we grow and develop together this year. I am also looking forward to exploring Bangkok and Thailand itself!
