BACKGROUND:
I am from a small village in North Yorkshire and studied Modern History at London Metropolitan University. I began teaching in China in 2013 and achieved my PGCEi in 2017. In 2023 I moved from Shanghai to Bangkok.
STRENGHTS:
Due to having taught Y6 for several years and my background in History and Science, I possess a solid understanding of Primary Curriculum. I believe students are most engaged and motivated to learn when they are having fun and able to understand why they are learning a skill. Thus, I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable and relevant to their lives and futures as possible.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
I really enjoy getting to know the children, watching and guiiding them towards overcoming challenges and seeiing them grow as humans. I love how intimate and closeknit the school is: all teachers know and take an interest in the well-being in all of the students, and the children are comfortable approaching any teacher to ask for help, discuss problems or just have a chat.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
My approach in the classroom entails giving the chidren the tools and confidence to tackle tasks independently, instilling kindness and inclusive and providing a space where everyone feels safe, important and able to try their best. I strive to inspire the students to think positively about themselves, their peers and their learning.
LOOKING AHEAD:
My role as teacher of Year 6 is to hone the children’s academic potential and prepare them for the great leap to secondary school. I’m looking forward to seeing the children deepening their love of learning, celebrating each other’s success and understanding that, with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
