Ms. Tanya

BACKGROUND:
I was borin in Penang, Malaysia and have moved around
South East Asia as my parents were International School
Teachers. I was 9 years old when I left Ireland to come to
school in Thailand. I then left for university in the UK in 2012,
when I was 18. I went to The University of The West of England
Bristol, achieving a BSc (Hons) Equine Science, in 2015. After
graduating, I worked in the medical sales industry for 3 years
and then worked as a nanny in the UK and Australia. I
completed my PGCE specialising in Primary PE in 2021.
Thailand has a special place in my hears, so after teaching in
The Cotswolds, England for 3 years as. year 3/4 teacher,
I decided my next step was to move back to Thailand to
pursue a teaching career here.

STRENGHTS:
I have always been sporty; I was part of most of the sports
teams at school and have been a keen horse rider from a
young age. In 2022, I started training for Triathlons. I have
completed two 70.3 Ironman triathlons, one in Italy and one
in Pattaya. My aim is to share my love and passion for PE
with children, inspire and help them to achieve their full
sporting potential. PE helps children work collaboratively,
communicate effectively, make decisions, build friendships and
respect others, which are all values I live by myself. When in
the classroom, I also follow these values which allows a fun and
interactive learning environment.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
Teaching is such a rewarding job. Allowing children to challenge themselves on a
daily basis and being able to see the smile on their face when they have tried
their best and acheived someting they thought they couldn’t. I am lucky I get
to see these smiles everyday. The FSB’s sports curriclum offers a diverse range of
physical activities, which allow children to have a taste of a number of
different sports, possibly sports they never would have thought of playing.

MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:

LOOKING AHEAD:
This year is going to be a fantastic year for sports at FSB! With lots of
exciting plans in place we are going to start developing more school squads
in a number of different sports. This will bring a great sence of community
and a healthy bit of competition into school life, teaching the children how
to make the most of team sports. I am excited to see all the children flourish.
