Ms. Eilidh

BACKGROUND:
I am from a small village surrounded by beautiful countryside in the northeast of Scotland. I attended the University of Aberdeen in 2013, where I completed my MA in Primary Education. I moved to Thailand 5 years ago which has fully become my home. I fell in love with the beauty, energy and people of the city, but I am also very excited to be working in a small community school again, as this environment is what I grew up in myself.

STRENGHTS:
I love working with children and have always aspired to develop myself into a teacher who can understand children who come from all aspects of life. While at university I also worked with adults and children with special needs, where I
received training on how best to support people with additional needs, with a special focus on autism.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
I decided to become a teacher at a young age, because I have always loved the idea that everyday can be different and unique. Working in schools is always fun filled and interesting and I love getting to know the new set of characters that enter my classroom each year. Working in year one, we are able to access the curriculum in a number of creative ways, such as junk modelling the apollo 11 rocket, singing ‘down by the bay’ to work on our rhyming or running races to practice ordinal numbers through ribbons. FSB has been nothing but encouraging to make all of the weird and wonderful ideas I have happen, and it results in happy teachers and happy students all around.

MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
In my classroom I believe it is important to talk about what we are passionate about and try to incorporate our home lives in the classroom. I love celebrating students’ achievements, big or small, and creating a safe, caring and fun environment where everyone feels welcome. The most important part of everyday learning for me is making sure the children are always trying their personal best and not be afraid to get the answer wrong.

LOOKING AHEAD:
This year in year one, I cannot wait to see every child grown in their own way
socially, emotionally as well as academically. I love watching our everyday
successes in the classroom, and I plan on celebrating them throughout the
year with the children. Most importantly this year I will ensure that the children
stay happy and healthy and love coming to school.
