BACKGROUND:
I am from a small village between Manchester and Leeds in the North of England. I moved to Ormskirk, near Liverpool to complete my undergraduate degree in Primary Education and QTS certificate which I achieved in 2013. I spent 6 years teaching within a variety of schools in and around Manchester in all year groups from Y1 – Y6. During this time, I studied for my NPQML leadership qualification which I achieved in 2019. In the same year I decided to move to Thailand and worked at another International School in Bangkok as a Year 1 teacher and Assistant Head of campus. During this time, I also achieve my NPQSL leadership qualification which I completed in 2023.
STRENGHTS:
As a large majority of my experience is within Year 1 and Year 2, I have an excellent understand of the Bristish Primary National Curriculum for these year groups. I also have have a wealth of knowledge around phonics and early reading as I have previously lead the implementation of new programmes and supported teachers to develp their skills. I pride myself on being personable and making strong connections with staff and the community. I love to be part of community events and support families wherever possible.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING:
I love working with children as they always bring joy and happiness into the classroom. Every day is different and their positive nature makes it easy to adapt and change when needed. At FSB, I enjoy supporting my colleagues and getting to know all the children in Lower Primary.
MY APPROACH IN THE CLASSROOM:
In my classroom I believe it is important for all children to feel safe and respected. We work together to great an environment of mutual respect where children can; take risks, be determined, show their curiosity, develop a positive attitude, learn and enjoy! This, mixed with high expectations means that all children can achieve their personal best and enjoy the journey to get there.
LOOKING AHEAD:
As the Head of Lower Primary, I am excited about being part of the growth and development of the Primary side of FSB. I want all the children to feel safe and have the opportunity to acheive their personal best.
